The first step in restoring the cemetery is done. The trees downed by Hurricane Helene have been removed. It certainly changes the feel of the place.

On September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene severely damaged our beloved Cottage Cemetery. A number of trees, big and small, were knocked down, damaging the brick wall and the steel security fence. Grave markers received minor damage. Currently a clean-up project is underway to remove trees and repair the brick wall. Recovery work will be done in phases and is expected to take many months to complete.
